Unfortunately Valentines is not a very big thing for me, but I made a couple of cards the night before. I primarily was trying out a new stamp from Two Scoop Rice Designs (Garden Fairies) and playing with black ink. I’ve been on the lookout for a good ink to use with my Copic markers and it was pretty much down to Tsukineko – Versafine (Onyx Black) or Memento Dye Ink (Black). I’ve tried them both and its a tough decision.
I found Versafine to produce images that are more crisp and clean, especially the stamps that have thick lines (The Greeting Farm) and makes them look almost printer quality. BUT, I almost have to either wait until the next day for the ink to dry completely or use a heat gun so that the copic markers won’t make the black ink run.
The Memento Dye ink does not have the ink running problem, but I find the images it produces aren’t as nice and crisp. I’ll try to post a picture of this the next time I make a card to show the difference. However, for stamps that don’t have thick lines (in this post, Two Scoop Rice Designs), the quality difference were minimal if any. I can also color over the black ink on the images with my Copics and not have any problems, this is awesome especially since I had to make these three cards the night before Valentines Day!
For the Purple card I used the following: Spellbinders Petite Ovals and Petite Scalloped Ovals, S.E.I. Scrapbook Paper – Chick-A-Doo (singles or pad), Copics – E00, E000, R95, R93, R91, Hero Arts – Blue and Clear Rhinestones, Making Memories – Card Making (Love Sticker) and Cheeky Alpha Shimmer (Initials – Purple) and S.E.I. Velvet Paper – Lavender.
For the Blue cards I used the following: Spellbinders Petite Ovals and Petite Scalloped Ovals, S.E.I. Scrapbook Paper – Love Nest (singles only), Copics – E00, E000, B99, B97, B95, Hero Arts – Blue and Clear Rhinestones, Making Memories – Card Making (Thank You Sticker) and Cheeky Alpha Shimmer (Initials – Black) and S.E.I. Velvet Paper – Navy and Mallard.
It really shows how ONE stamp can be used for so many different styles for girls or boys depending on how you decorate it! And remember, the Garden Fairies stamp comes with SIX stamps!
